The crew on board a large fishing vessel continue finding their catch only days after a generator fire.
Commercial fishing is responsible for providing a large quantity of food for countries around the globe, achieved with the help of deep-sea fishing vessels. Today’s commercial fishers use large vessels that can stay out at sea for as long as six months - they are crucial assets in ensuring a successful and profitable season.
On board a large US Fish Factory ship, a generator fire occurred mid-way through a season, leaving enough damage to make the vessel inoperable and put over forty members of crew out of work. Any downtime during seasons is detrimental to such a large fishing crew. Fishing companies are under enormous pressure to deliver in their quest to capture enough fish to satisfy increasing demand. The vessel required urgent repair work, so she could continue finding her catch safely and efficiently.
Following the generator fire, Fusion Marine were contacted and immediately determined what repairs were required. The crew on-board the vessel needed a quick turnaround, reducing as much downtime as possible.
Fusion Marine dedicated their entire Dutch Harbor team and were able to call upon another contractor to help with labor. The safety of the fishing crew was a critical factor; trawler vessels suffer the worst of the weather and must be equipped with machinery of the utmost reliability. Fusion’s team cleared the fire damage, worked on the vessel’s systems to ensure they were operational, and tested the electronics.
The ongoing maintenance of any vessel is crucial. In this project, Fusion Marine were working with an ABS classed vessel, meaning it must adhere to strict standards and technical specifications. Fusion’s technicians provided the majority of labor required and took on all project management, bringing the vessel back up to ABS standard.
After only seven days of work, repairs were complete and the vessel was safe to once again, navigate the open ocean and find her catch.
Following the generator fire, the crew on board the fishing vessel were back out at sea in a matter of days. Operating within a tight timeframe, Fusion Marine acted as a true one-stop partner, working tirelessly to complete the repairs and ensure the vessel remained compliant.
Fusion’s maritime electronic and hardware solutions ensured the remainder of the season was smooth sailing, helping the crew stay fully operational in order to Succeed. Anywhere.
